Apple Watch Series 6 Blank Screen Issue Service Program Announced: Affected Models, Eligibility

| |

Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 6 blank screen service program after the company determined that a very small percentage of Apple Watch Series 6 40mm screens may go permanently black. The affected wearables were manufactured between April 2021 and September 2021. Users who are facing this problem have the option to check their smart watch serial number on the official website. If your smartwatch is eligible, you can access free service from an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP). Separately, it was reported late last month that Apple Watch Series 7 fast charging will be disrupted with the watchOS 8.5 update.

Apple Watch Series 6 Service Program for Blank Screen Issue was announced by the Cupertino, California-based company after discovering a manufacturing defect in its Series 6 smartwatches. According to the company, a small percentage of 40mm Apple Watch Series 6 screens may go permanently black. The affected wearables are from the batches manufactured between April 2021 and September 2021.

The tech giant has clarified that only eligible smartwatches will receive the AASP’s free service. The company has stated that repair of eligible wearables may be limited to the original country or region of purchase. Users can verify their smartwatch’s eligibility for the Apple Watch Series 6 service program by entering the serial number on Apple’s official website.

Last month it was reported that the watchOS 8.5 update released for the Apple Watch in March broke support for fast charging. The update had brought the ability to authorize Apple TV purchases and subscriptions right from the user’s wrist. Users could also use audio cues in Fitness+ with audio commentary of visually demonstrated movements during workouts after the update. However, the reports pointed to Apple Watch Series 7 users who confirmed that watchOS 8.5 appears to be breaking support for fast charging – a feature that was exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 7.
