Epic Games has confirmed that from today, March 20th through April 3rd, all Fortnite proceeds will be donated to “humanitarian aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine.”

In partnership with Xbox – also “dedicated [its] Proceeds for Fortnite during this time” – the campaign hopes to raise funds for charities providing emergency relief, health care, food and clean water, essential supplies, legal aid and shelter.

“All Fortnite real money purchases made between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022 will be distributed,” Epic said on the official Fortnite website. “This includes V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, giveaway Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs like the Voidlander pack that are sold for real money. Purchases of in-game cosmetics and retail V-Bucks cards are also included if redeemed in-game during this window.

“The use of V-Bucks in Fortnite is not included as these are not real money purchases.”

Epic adds that 100 percent of Fortnite proceeds “equal to the gross purchase price of all Fortnite in-game purchases or retail purchase redemptions […] from sales anywhere in the world, excluding taxes, third-party platform fees, refunds, returns, or cancellations”.

The initiative will not impact the earnings of participants in their Support-a-Creator program, and while Epic welcomes donations from affiliate earnings, members are encouraged to work “directly” with charities. There is also no option for players to opt out; If for any reason you don’t want your money used towards the effort, Epic suggests that you “stop buying anything with real money” by April 4th.
