What are the biggest games in April? The new month brings a slew of games that will delight those with a knack for sports and racing games. From Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, there’s something for everyone. Motorsport enthusiasts can enjoy MotoGP 22 with friends as it features two-player local split-screen alongside the standard online multiplayer modes. April seems to mostly favor sports games, and another to join the already stacking list is MLB The Show 22, with the baseball game missing for the first week of the month.

Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch Sports players can enjoy soccer, volleyball, and bowling, among others, with a Joy-Con controller. Chrono Cross, the RPG originally released in 1999, is getting a highly anticipated remaster titled ChronoCross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. And last but not least, the popular first-person adventure game gets an overhaul with new content and secrets The Parable of Stanley: Ultra Deluxe, nearly a decade after the original game launched. It will be released on April 27th on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.

Here are some upcoming games worth checking out in April on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch.

When: April 1st
Where: PC, Nintendo Switch

Drop into an alien world filled with unique characters in tERRORbane, a whimsical take on the generic fantasy RPG formula. Unlike regular games, bugs are your ally here as you dish out the bug list to exploit and cheat your way through the “developer’s” sloppy game design in a comedic adventure.

The game won’t shy away from hitting iconic moments from gaming and entertainment history – so keep an eye out for Easter Eggs scattered throughout the game. The game will encourage players to take multiple passes as your choices will affect the path you take.

MLB The Show 22

When: April 5th
Where: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch

Players waiting for MLB The Show 22 will be pleased with an early release of the game in April. This will be the 17th installment of MLB’s The Show franchise. The cover features Japanese baseball pitcher Shohei Ohtani, commonly known as “Shotime”.

The game introduces two new difficulty levels specifically tailored for players trying the game for the first time. Diamond Dynasty returns with a new mini-season mode where players can enjoy a new set of competitions for each season.

MLB The Show 22 also supports cross-platform and cross-progression – the latter allows you to continue season progression and also earn and use content on other consoles. The game will be available in three different editions with the Standard Edition, the MVP Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

When: April 5th
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

Star Wars fans can look forward to the launch of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – the long-awaited sequel to 2016’s Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Originally due out in October 2020, the upcoming game will be based on the three Skywalker Saga trilogies, allowing players to complete each trilogy in any order.

As the game is adapted from all nine films – from A New Hope to The Rise of Skywalker – players will have access to a total of 45 story missions, five per episode. Players can choose from over 300 characters and benefit from new and improved combat, as well as explorable planets, moons and even legendary ships like the Death Star.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will also feature Mumble Mode to replace the original in-game voice acting with Lego’s signature grunts and mumbles seen in games like the Lego Harry Potter Collection.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

When: April 7th
Where: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Set in the same world as Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross was originally released on PlayStation over two decades ago, in 1999. The Radical Dreamers Edition is an HD remaster of the game featuring refined character art, improved background music quality, simplified combat and more.

It’s a classic RPG adventure that puts you in the shoes of Serge who is transported to a parallel world where no one recognizes him since the Serge of this world died years ago. Chrono Cross features up to 40 potential party members, each with unique abilities and elemental affinities.

Players must master the game’s many elements and stamina to master its strategic turn-based combat system.

MotoGP 22

When: 21.04
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch

Motorsport fanatics rejoice as MotoGP looks set for another season as developers Milestone roll out new content and features designed to welcome newcomers and seasoned players alike. The game brings new and improved 3D character models and pits, better facial animations and refined tracks that can contribute to better driveability. MotoGP 22 features over 120 official riders and over 20 official circuits for gamers to test their limits.

The game will also feature, for the first time in this series, two-player local split-screen, online multiplayer and cross-play across consoles in the same family.

The snake villain

When: 26.04
Where: PC

The Serpent Rogue is an upcoming action-adventure game from Team17 Digital set in a medieval fantasy world. The game expects players to interact with the denizens of a cursed land and help them with alchemy by creating and experimenting with potions in exchange for resources as they advance in the game.

Players can transform themselves and others with potions, from altering their bodies to allow poison to heal them, to shapeshifting into various creatures. In their search for an ominous danger, players must explore forgotten regions, unearth secret passages and learn to survive while following in the footsteps of The Warden, a mysterious alchemist destined to protect the realm and join the Serpent Rogue pose on Mount Morbus.

Nintendo Switch Sports

When: 29.04
Where: Nintendo Switch

The upcoming Nintendo Switch Sports is the third installment in the Wii Sports game series, and the upcoming sports simulation game includes six different sports – bowling, tennis, sword fighting (or chambara), soccer, volleyball and badminton.

Players can use the Joy-Con on the Nintendo Switch to participate in any motion-controlled mini-game. Players who purchase the physical copy of the title will also get access to a leg strap with a Joy-Con pouch to detect leg movement (which also came with Nintendo’s Ring Fit Adventure) while playing soccer mini-games.

The upcoming Nintendo Switch Sports title can be played online with other players and friends, or locally, according to Nintendo. Later this year, players will also have access to Golf as part of a free update.
