Poco is said to be working on a new smartwatch. The launch of the Xiaomi sub-brand wearable seems imminent as it has been spotted on several certification websites. The Poco smartwatch has reportedly received approvals from SGS in Belgium, SIRIM in Malaysia, SDPPI in Indonesia and EEC in Russia. The certification websites list the Poco smartwatch with the same internal model designation. Not much is known about Poco’s wearable other than its charging support. The company has not yet made any official announcements.
The various certification website listings of the upcoming Poco Smartwatch were sighted through tipster Piyush Bhasarkar (@IndianTech_1). The EWG listing for the smartwatch shows it may be manufactured by 70may, Xiaomi’s peripherals division that makes dashcams and power stations. The only thing all listings have in common is that they name M2131W1 as the internal model designation for Poco’s upcoming wearable.
The listing on SGS Belgium’s certification website mentions that the upcoming POCO smartwatch will get 1.5W charging support. It also suggests that it might launch for European markets as well. Similarly, SIRIM and SDPPI certifications from Malaysia and Indonesia, respectively, suggest the wearable will also be available in Asian markets. Other than that, not much is known about the upcoming Poco smartwatch.
Speaking to Android Authority in October, a Poco executive Confirmed that the company is working on the development of products for the Internet of Things (IoT). This suggests that Poco may be developing products in categories other than wearables. In 2020, Poco announced it would be launching its True Wireless Stereo (TWS) headphones, but didn’t give an exact date. Another report from June last year mentioned that Poco could rebrand Redmi AirDots 3 Pro as its first TWS offering – Poco Pop Buds. However, the headphones have yet to be launched. It remains to be seen which IoT products Poco has in store for its customers.
