YouTube Music has reportedly started rolling out support for Android 12’s media recommendation feature, which shows the latest albums and playlists and allows users to start music playback right away. The new update shows users three recently played tracks on the compact map, while opening quick settings shows six tracks, the report added. The compact card should also show up when the smartphone has been locked. The YouTube Music notification card has a track shuffle option and a shortcut for the user’s offline mixtapes.

according to a report From 9To5Google, YouTube recently started rolling out an update to YouTube Music with support for Android 12 media recommendations. With the new update, media recommendations are said to appear automatically after a user connects an audio device via Bluetooth, such as headphones or speakers.

The report added that when the notification card is in compact form, the YouTube Music application icon and name will appear in the top left corner along with three recently played tracks in the right corner. On the other hand, opening quick settings is said to reveal six recently played tracks. According to the report, the compact card also appears on the smartphone’s lock screen.

Users can start playing the track in the background in the YouTube Music app with a single tap, which also shows them the Now Playing controls, the report added. The playback recommendations are only meant to be displayed for a few minutes, after which users have to swipe to access them again. These recommendations will reportedly appear after the playback controls and begin playing a different track. According to the report, the notification card also shows a shuffle button and a shortcut to launch a downloaded offline mixtape.

Users can turn off YouTube Music notification card recommendations by going to Disable Settings > Sound & Vibration > Media > Show media recommendations.

The new YouTube Music update is set to appear broader for Google’s streaming service than in the past, and some Spotify users have already noticed. The report assumes that the notification card will be displayed in full height on Android 13.
